WELCOME TO GHOST RIDER

I set this blog up primarily to keep multiple friends and family easily updated on my explorations and for anyone else who might find some value, enlightenment or humor from it. 

I have been traveling with a heavy bias towards the outdoors and nature for as long as I can remember.   I thank my parents for introducing me to camping - probably when I was still in diapers. I have carried this love of the outdoors and the feeling of connection to nature and through nature a stronger connection to myself for over half a century with many, many more trips to come.  

I believe travel broadens perspectives in ways that staying in our backyards can never hope to do.  It informs our understanding of the world and our place within it.  Exploration at one minute can challenge the limits of our endurance and in the next enlighten us in ways we did not know were possible.

For me, nature and the wild outdoors are a pathway back to our more primitive selves.  A place where the constructs and social guardrails of modern western civilization start to fall away.   We are able to connect with our more authentic selves.  Those primitive parts of us that live to truly live and be connected to a greater whole vs the live to work construct we have been programmed with.
